Who we are looking for

As Communications Manager, you will be responsible for the external-facing side of Alserkal Avenue, engaging with our audiences, networks, education and culture partners and press. You will execute digital, social media, marketing, PR and internal communications strategy, as per the strategy outlined. It is a great opportunity to make an impact within arts and culture in Dubai. Our day to day is always different. We might be promoting the Avenue through digital channels, managing press trips or writing engaging copy for a catalogue.

We’re looking for an effective communicator who has excellent copywriting skills and who can confidently write across different brands and for different audiences. High levels of self-motivation, the ability to work within an environment subject to change and the ability to grasp the needs of Alserkal Avenue as an organisation and consider practical solutions is key. Someone well-informed about the art world, a natural multi-tasker, and willing to travel would be ideal, along with 5-7 years of relevant experience to bring to the role.

The role

An adept communications and marketing professional, the Communications Manager is responsible for the Alserkal brand’s relationship with external institutions, the press, and the public, both local and international. In addition to creating compelling copy, the Communications Manager will be a strategic thinker with the ability to appreciate long-term thinking while focusing on day-to-day delivery.

Your daily role will include:

Working with the Assistant Director of Communications to create communications strategies for Alserkal Avenue, Alserkal Residency, Concrete and any future brand subsidiaries

Implementing digital and social media strategies, with continual review and adjustments considering external and internal factors

Handling all copywriting and proofreading for all Alserkal Avenue, Alserkal Residency and Concrete collateral, including catalogues, programmes, presentations and online content

Handling all copywriting of press materials, including but not limited to press releases, interviews, statements and speeches

Network development and outreach across education, culture, press and commercial institutions and individuals, building your network and managing partnerships and fulfilment

Managing Folio, our content platform, ensuring the editorial calendar is in place, managing freelancers and ensuring content is delivered

Working with the Head of Brand for the new website development for Alserkal Avenue and Concrete

Support with growing the Alserkal brand’s local and international media relations, responding to press enquiries, managing journalist tours to the Avenue and assisting with press trips

Managing paid marketing for Facebook and Instagram

Brainstorming, strategising and managing end-to-end projects, including briefing agencies, where required.

Ensuring regular monthly reporting on social media and website and provide quarterly analysis with recommendations

Managing communications on and around the umbrella community initiatives

Managing creation and dissemination of all newsletters, invitations, and other direct marketing communications

The role offers a fantastic working environment within Alserkal Avenue in the industrial district of Al Quoz. You will also receive an array of benefits including on-the-job training, regular appraisals and much more. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday through Thursday, from 10am to 7pm. with overtime and Saturdays required to attend events and/or due to strict deadlines leading up to projects.
